Reba McEntire Hilariously Details Accidentally Getting High With Her Mother

Reba McEntire hilariously shared the time she accidentally got high with her now-late mother. This was never supposed to happen but it was unintentional and led to a very interesting late-night experience. So, how did this all go down and when did Reba realize what had happened? In her sitcoms, Reba McEntire’s characters have gotten into some very interesting predicaments. She became best friends with her ex-husband’s mistress, Barbra Jean, on Reba. That was something that she tried to fight but BJ was not about to let Reba get away. It even sent Reba to the hospital but she had high blood pressure so she just needed more calm in her life after years of so many unexpected highs and lows. The same has happened on her new sitcom, Happy’s Place. Her character, Bobbie’s dad passed and left her his bar but in a twist, he also had a much younger daughter.

Bobbie never knew about her and now they must share and run the bar together. It is not ideal but they will find a way to work it out. Plus, it reunites Reba with Melissa Peterman aka Barbra Jean so fans are delighted by this pairing. While promoting her new sitcom along with the current season of The Voice, Reba made a stop at The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. While there, she shared a sweet yet comical story about caretaking for her now-late mother, Jacqueline in 2020.

Jacqueline was sick and Reba McEntire’s siblings were taking care of their mother in Oklahoma. According to People, Reba stepped in so that they could all have a much-needed break. She shared she was given instructions about administering gummies before bed:

“Alice told me, she said, ‘Now, if Mama starts hurting tonight when y’all go to sleep, give her one of these gummies.’ And I said, ‘OK, alright.’ And I said, ‘The whole thing?’ She said, ‘Yeah, the whole thing.’”

Giving Jacqueline the whole 50mg gummy was not something Reba felt completely comfortable with. Yet, she did not want her to feel any pain so before bed, Reba opted to give her half of a gummy. She instructed Jacqueline what to do and she was out like a light. That was when things went south.

It’s Reba’s Turn

Reba McEntire could not believe how well they worked for her mother that she thought maybe she should take the other half:

“I thought, ‘Well, shoot. Mama’s taking it. I need to see what she’s experiencing.’”

After that moment, it was a whole other experience Reba was not prepared for. In the night, her mother needed assistance but Reba was struggling to get herself together. She fought as hard as she could because she did not want to fail. Her mom then wanted ice water but the kitchen seemed so far and Reba did not want to fail at that, either. However, she could envision the headline if she even attempted to get ice:

“Reba McEntire found in her mother’s kitchen, ice all around.”

Reba handed her mother an iceless glass of water:

“So, I just turned back to Mom, and I said, ‘Here you go.’ And she took a sip, and she said, ‘Ugh, where’s the ice?’ And I said, ‘We’re out.’ She said, ‘We’re out of ice?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’”

Finally, the songstress, coach, and actress laid down to bed and it just got even stranger:

“I crawled over, and I laid down, and I swear there was weeds and flowers growing out of my head.”

Needless to say, Reba had a hilarious and very memorable moment with her mother that she will never forget. Jacqueline passed in 2020 but her legacy lives on through these tales.
