Fox Sports’ Joy Taylor Savagely Destroyed Aaron Rodgers

Fox Sports 1 analyst Joy Taylor offered some harsh criticism of Aaron Rodgers amid rumors that he’ll land with the New York Giants.

The New York Jets released Rodgers earlier this week, sending the four-time MVP to free agency for the first time in his career. Rodgers has spoken with the Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers, with the Minnesota Vikings also being mentioned as a possible landing spot for the 41-year-old.

The Jets acquired Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers two years ago, hoping he would rejuvenate this long-suffering franchise. But he tore his Achilles minutes into his Jets Week 1, 2023 debut, then looked like a shell of his former self as the 2024 squad limped to a 5-12 finish.

Speaking about a possible Rodgers-Giants pairing in free agency on FS1’s “Speak” program, Taylor was heavily critical of the future Hall of Famer and advised the Giants against signing him:

“They have the worst roster in that division. He’d be the worst quarterback in that division, by far. He wasn’t able to elevate the (New York) Jets. I think the coach is better than he had before, but no, he’s not going to make that team competitive…he’s a human body that plays the quarterback position.

Like, what is he bringing to the Giants? They need a body. They need a person that plays that position. At best, you’re battling for third in that division. And I think that’s a stretch. He’s automatically the worst quarterback in that division…

I don’t know what kind of vibes we’re cooking here, but that’s not an option that makes the Giants competitive.”

Brian Daboll and the Giants need a new starting quarterback after releasing Daniel Jones from his contract late last season. They hold the No. 3 pick in the draft, but the Tennessee Titans (No. 1) and Cleveland Browns (No. 2) could take the top two QB prospects in Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

The Giants have also met with free agent Russell Wilson, who had an up-and-down one-year stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Aaron Rodgers & Giants Definitely Aren’t A Match

Rodgers may not be an MVP-caliber quarterback anymore, but he can still play at a good-enough level for a team to compete. Even in a “down” year, he still completed 63 percent of pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

But the Giants are nowhere close to contention and give Rodgers no shot at contending for a Super Bowl. The Steelers still feel like the best bet for Rodgers, considering they have a Hall of Fame coach, a top-10 defense and two dynamic receivers in D.K. Metcalf and George Pickens.
