On Wednesday, the new game show spinoff series led by the Saturday Night Live personality premiered on Amazon Prime Video with a three-part drop. Fans appeared eager to pit the 42-year-old comedian against his current Jeopardy! counterpart, Ken Jennings, but were unable to do so as he “surprisingly” delivered.

“Just watched E1 and enjoyed it. I’m a fan of Colin Jost in general,” one admitted in a Dec. 4 Reddit post. “I found the pacing to be a bit slow and his explanations to be a little ‘read’ instead of smooth and ‘spoken’ if you know what I mean. It’s E1, he’ll fall into a rhythm. I’ll definitely keep watching.”

In a different thread, another viewer described the show as “surprisingly not too much of a walk in the park with some questions yet all very on par with pop culture-new and old.”

“Speaking of surprising, Colin Jost is actually a great host-very Ken Jennings approach with the customers with a formal yet unformal way,” they continued, noting they “wondered when a joke about him being married to [Scarlett Johansson] would come up,” and spoiler alert, “it was only 2 episodes.”

“Had to stop myself after 2 episodes because I could easily binge this all,” they added, “similarly to if Jeopardy was released as such.”

“Colin Jost is a really good host,” someone else agreed, noting his “star power” and sense of humor bring something special to the series. “I’m enjoying him immensely to be honest. I think Ken is really good too, but Colin is more telegenic.”

An X (formerly Twitter) user boldly declared they’ve watched every episode that’s been released “because of Colin Jost,” similarly, another dubbed the show and its casting “perfect.”

One more Redditor said that the show “feels more like a bar-trivia competition” when compared to the OG, but that it’s not a bad thing, gushing over how Jost’s “quick wit and off-the-cuff remarks fit right in without getting in the way of the gameplay.”

According to a TV Insider report, 40 episodes will be released as part of Season 1, coming in batches of three every Wednesday.
