Kelly Clarkson made a super adorable memory with her 9-year-old daughter Rivr Rose by singing her old song “Heartbeat Song” as a duet live. The duo belted out the synth-pop banger at Clarkson’s second to last show of her Chemistry residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. With dresses that you could only describe as formal — highly badass formal — a very classy-looking Clarkson gazed into the eyes of her daughter, River Rose, as they sang, totally killing it on stage together.
Clarkson selected “Heartbeat Song” — her daughter’s favourite joint, while River Rose played her role to perfection by chiming in with her mum. You can hear Rivr Rose in the verse, and the bridge (where the pair sang the lines together without a backing band), but Clarkson takes the lead throughout with a voice well mixed. Take a look at the video below — the video itself has racked up 1.5 million views.
Kelly Clarkson & Daughter River Rose Sing Heartbeat Song Together

Clarkson explained to the audience that when she asked her daughter, River Rose, about what song she would like to sing on tour, River replied by saying, “she loves this song so much — she’s been jamming this song since she was a baby. So she was like, please, please, can I sing this song? Reba Shamrock-Back to the bit part, just give a singer full-time job, River Rose Back to just give the bit part to the singer, fulltime gig kill, “She killed it”
Fans loved seeing mum and daughter do the rock out thing together, writing: ‘That’s a memory she will have forever. Star power! “The first time she was allowed to play on sta ge with her mom” — and “A star is born! Kelly boosted River Rose because she made her get up on stage and sing. Such is your charm Kelly!!” That night at the residency, Clarkson asked River Rose to sing once again, and to add an extra dose of adorable, her 7-year-old brother Remington Alexander joined in too.
Clarkson has two children from her marriage to her former manager Brandon Blackstock. The duo got married in Oct. 20, 2013, and the following daughters, River Rose and Remington Alexander arrived in June and April 2014, 2016 respectively. The two were married the subsequent summer, but the divorce wasn’t finalized until March 2022 following a lengthy, headline-making (as most reconciliations are) process.
Kelly Clarkson – Heatbeat Song (with her kids)
It was the lead single from Clarkson’s seventh studio album, 2015’s Piece by Piece. The single was very well received peaking Gold in the US and marked her biggest hit in nearly a decade. The track peaked at number one on US Dance-Club Songs chart and, reached the top 10 on several other country’s national charts.
Co-written by songwriters Mitch Allan, Kara DioGuardi, Jason Evigan and Audra Mae, the song’s provenance would later lead to controversy. Just three days later, on 29 December, Kay Ti announced that that song was going to be released due to it being similar to Jimmy Eat World’s 2001 alternative rock hit “The Middle”, which critics dubbed as similar chords and melody.
Clarkson later defended herself against the controversy, stating, “I didn’t write the song, I just sang it. But I didn’t catch that. Backstage no one bothered to… Jimmy Eat World was super cool about it → ‘Hey, no harm, No foul.’ September 26, 2023: Well, you can only have so many chords. Apparently, Jimmy Eat World had a pretty good shot at winning but did not take the case to court, and as a result, the writing credits for “Heartbeat Song” still do not include the band as co-writers.
