“Golf is a family thing” in the Ohanian’s! Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian has a special affinity toward golf. He is often seen enjoying his golfing sessions with his elder daughter Olympia. Golf has now become a regular part of Olympia’s life and her passion for the sport is often portrayed through Ohanian’s social media posts. He believes Olympia is a “Golf icon in the making.” Talking about creating records, Olympia has already put her name in the record books by becoming the youngest owner of a professional sports team. She is the co-owner of a professional golf team at the age of just 5, that too in the Tiger Woods-backed league TGL. Can you believe it? A team owner at 5!
Recently, the little co-owner of LAGC accompanied her mother, Serena Williams at a TGL match. The Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC) is co-owned by Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, and their daughters. In 2023, while speaking about connecting the sport with the family, Ohanian said, “To wit, my wife Serena and I have enjoyed as Olympia’s taken a liking to golf, so I’m proud to announce that they’re both owners in this club as well — as is the little one on the way! This is another piece of the legacy I’m building for my family and I hope this team can become a part of many families’ lives, too.”
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are often seen attending LAGC’s matches. This time they were joined by Olympia and they were spotted entering the venue in style. Olympia waved at the camera to say ‘Hi.’ Later ESPNW shared that video clip on their X handle with the caption, “Los Angeles Golf Club co-owner Serena Williams is in the house for the @TGL match between @WeAreLAGC and @atlantadrivegc.” However, after seeing Olympia’s name missing from that post, Alexis Ohanian quickly jumped in to make the correction.
He added the “co-owner” status for Olympia as well! Alexis Ohanian reshared that post on his own X account with the caption, “👀 And LAGC co-owner @OlympiaOhanian.” Just for your information, apart from becoming a co-owner of LAGC at a very young age, do you know Olympia also made waves in the sporting world when she joined her parents in investing in Angel City FC at the age of just 2?
Olympia loves playing sports, but does she like tennis? Well, Serena Williams once revealed that her daughter, “doesn’t actually like to play tennis too much.” However, she did mention, “My daughter plays golf.” Even her husband, Alexis Ohanian admitted in jest that Olympia is already better than him in golf and he joked, that he’s “catching up.”
Ohanian once even shared a picture of Olympia’s mid-swing, proudly calling himself her caddy. In April 2024, Ohanian shared another post on social media in which he expressed his delight at his daughter’s progress on the golf course. He captioned the post saying, “Daddy Caddy for @olympiaohanian but really coached by @briittany_ferrante. We know we got at least one @wearelagc owner in the fam who can grip it & rip it.”
On one instance, a fan asked Ohanian, “I wonder where she gets that eye-hand coordination? Hmmm!” In reply to that, the Reddit co-founder gave a hilarious reaction. “Surely my videogame skills.” Well, maybe. But who knows she might have got her hand-eye coordination from her mom Serena? The legend was as good as anyone else in terms of hand-eye coordination, wasn’t she?
Elaborating on Olympia’s golfing skills on another occasion, Ohanian said, “Getting her into golf, she’ll totally whiff on a ball. And once she got so upset, she pulled the club up and was about to smash it. I was like, Olympia. She just casually put the thing down. I was like, oh, you got that Serena [Williams] in you.”

Serena Williams once said she wasn’t going to let her daughter become a professional athlete unless she’s paid what she’s worth. However, with his massive investments in sports, Alexis Ohanian always wanted his kids to be in the “front seat.” In 2020, he became the lead investor in the women’s pro soccer team, Angel City FC. With that, he ensured their daughter Olympia had a stake in the club as well.
Speaking about that in an interview with PEOPLE, he said, “Right now all Olympia knows is that Angel City FC is our team, and she loves cheering for them. I think as she gets older, maybe she’ll come to see the different layers to it. Obviously, being the youngest owner of pro sports is pretty fun, but she doesn’t actually understand that she is the youngest owner in pro sports.”
Later, he wrote on social media, “As someone who spends hours kicking around a football with my two-year-old daughter, I want her to have a front-row seat to this revolution. I’m personally investing on behalf of my family because creating more opportunities in women’s sports is important to my wife @serenawilliams and me, and we want to be a part of making a better future for our daughter @olympiaohanian.”
Even during a conversation with the American rapper and basketball player Flau’Jae, Ohanian shared a very interesting take on the real reason that motivated him to make Olympia the youngest owner of two sports teams. He spoke about building a legacy. “ Let a little Black girl be a trendsetter for you know team ownership,” he remarked.
Clearly, his statements portray his love for his daughters. Who knows we may see Olympia owning even more teams in the future! After all, her dad backs her and wants her on the front seat.
