Selena Gomez’s engagement ring from Benny Blanco elicited a humorous reaction from Martin Short at the Golden Globes last night.

In a video shared by E! News on X, the 74-year-old Short pretended to tug the sparkling ring off Selena’s finger after she presented her hand to him. After some playful yanking, he admired the marquise ring with pride. Although their conversation was inaudible, it seemed Selena was explaining the details of the ring to him.

Benny, Selena’s fiancé, was not visible in the clip but was her date for the evening. The couple has been romantically linked since June 2023 and announced their engagement in December, though their wedding date remains uncertain.

Selena attended the Golden Globes as a double nominee for her roles in Netflix’s Emilia Perez and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. During her opening monologue, host Nikki Glaser made light of the newly engaged couple. “A double nominee tonight for Emilia Perez and Only Murders, and she’s here with her new fiancé, Benny Blanco. And Benny Blanco is here because of the genie who granted him that wish,” Glaser quipped, prompting awkward laughter from Selena and Benny. Benny then kissed her shoulder, leading Glaser to joke, “Man, lucky guy.”

Glaser continued her playful banter, praising Selena’s performance in Emilia Perez and humorously remarking on the film’s success, saying, “I think it is without a doubt the most audacious, groundbreaking film to ever autoplay after Is it Cake?”

Later that evening, Selena and Benny attended Netflix’s Golden Globe Afterparty 2025 at Spago in Beverly Hills, joined by Nicole Avant and Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos.

For the afterparty, Selena changed into an oversized satin blazer paired with a black bandeau dress, accentuating her look with red lipstick and glamorous Old Hollywood waves. Earlier, she had wowed in a baby blue Prada gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline and Cinderella-style skirt, while Benny sported a white suit layered over an embellished sweater.
