Jennifer Nettles brings the house down as she absolutely slays Bruce Springsteen’s classic “Glory Days,” sending the crowd into a frenzy! But she doesn’t stop there—she takes it up a notch, teaming up with Ben Harper for a sizzling rendition of “I’m on Fire” at the electrifying Bruce Honors Show. It was a night of unforgettable performances that left everyone buzzing with excitement!

I loved watching the look on Bruce’s face as she sang.

The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual event where performers are celebrated for their impact on American culture through achievements in the arts. Bruce Springsteen (“The Boss”) was one of the honorees during the star-studded evening in Washington D.C., where other musicians put on a tribute concert.

One unforgettable performance was when Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles rocked the house singing Springsteen’s classic “Glory Days.” However, it was only the beginning…

Bruce Springsteen has been gifting the world rock music for decades and has earned achievements all along the way.

As of 2020, he’s racked up 20 Grammy Awards – his first being back in 1984 for “Dancing In The Dark.” This is in addition to numerous other prestigious awards and honors, including the one he received at the Kennedy Center Opera House.

Springsteen sat in the audience while renowned musical artists performed some of his most memorable hits.

Country singer Jennifer Nettles took the stage for a cover of his all-time 80s classic, “Glory Days.” The song (which has been a favorite of many) appeared on Springsteen’s album Born in the U.S.A.

To cover a legendary artist’s song in front of them (along with a sea of other celebrities) does not sound like an easy feat.

However, Nettles brings her incredible energy and begins rocking the performance even before she sings a single lyric.

The 32nd annual Kennedy Honors was an evening to remember and one that would have been incredible to attend. Press play below to watch Nettle’s unforgettable performance for yourself!

During Nettle’s fiery rendition of “Glory Days,” a camera films the reactions of audience members – including Springsteen himself. He wears a smile, and at the end, applauds and blows the country star a kiss.

There’s another celebrity in the crowd whose approving reaction is also hard to ignore. Actress Meryl Streep seems like she’s having a blast.

But Nettles tribute isn’t over yet. Much to everyone’s delight, fellow musician Ben Harper walks out on stage and joins her by a pair of microphones.

Looking into each other’s eyes, Harper begins crooning the lyrics to another one of Springsteen’s hit songs – “I’m on Fire.”

Nettles then takes over transforming it into a chilling duet. A short time in, the artists blend their voices together and it’s pure magic.

For the second time, Nettles amazingly captivates the audience – but in a different way. The once lively Opera House is more still during their rendition of “I’m on Fire,” which is beautifully performed by both vocalists.

One viewer commented:

“Gotta like the artistry and the passion for the songs. Both were brilliant”

The duo’s amazing chemistry is hard to ignore during their performance.

Besides their cover being mesmerizing to listen to, watching Nettles and Harper sing together brings it to another level.

According to The New York Times – Mel Brooks, Robert De Niro, Grace Bumbry, and Dave Brubeck were also award recipients during the 32nd Kennedy Honors event, for their years of artistic contributions.

For those who didn’t attend the elite gala, CBS broadcast it shortly after. Highlights of the evening made it onto the internet as well – including Nettles’ (and Harper’s) exceptional tribute to Springsteen.
