Kelly Clarkson Belts Out Chris Stapleton's 'White Horse' - Watch

Though she typically sings heart-pounding full-belt pop anthems, Kelly Clarkson is a Texas girl by birth, and she can tap into her country side when she wants to. In a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer used that ability to great effect, performing Chris Stapleton’s “I Was Wrong” for Kellyoke. Time for a country album, perhaps?

About “I Was Wrong” by Chris Stapleton

Like the title says, the song is about admitting that you are wrong, confessing your sins and trying to make amends. The song is from Stapleton’s 2017 album, From A Room: Volume 1.

Stapleton started his career as a writer for other Nashville stars, and his tunes continue to be popular among singers of all stripes. He’s a favorite on The Voice; recently, Morgan Myles performed Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” during the Top 10 in the fall of 2022.

In fact, Clarkson, who was previously a Coach on The Voice (Seasons 14-21, 23), worked with Stapleton on her Christmas song “Glow.” “It was so awesome. He responded so quickly [when I asked him to collaborate]…anyway, he said yes, and it was so magical. I love his voice,” Clarkson told fans on Instagram.
