Comedian and actor Marlon Wayans has publicly criticized tech billionaire Elon Musk for his treatment of his transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson. Speaking on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast with Shannon Sharpe, Wayans, who is also a parent to a trans child, expressed his disappointment over Musk’s comments about his estranged daughter.
“I don’t like what he be saying about his trans child,” Wayans said. “You don’t treat them babies like that. You don’t disown your baby. Love your child!” The “Scary Movie” star, known for his outspoken nature, even admitted that Musk’s remarks made him feel like driving his Tesla “over a cliff.”
Wayans, who has been vocal about supporting his son, Kai Zackery Wayans, shared that it took him just a week to come to terms with his child’s transition. “And it felt like forever,” he added. “I’m sad to say some parents, and some family members, and some people—it’ll take them a lifetime.”
The actor first spoke publicly about his child’s transition during a November interview on “The Breakfast Club,” where he emphasized the importance of acceptance. “I just want my kids to be free,” he said. “I want them to be free in spirit and free to be themselves. The more you know yourself, the more you can govern yourself, the more you live your truth, the happier your existence.”
During a recent appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Wayans reaffirmed his love and support for his son, adding a touch of humor. “Same child they was before—they just got a beard now,” he quipped. “Same baby.”
In stark contrast, Musk has taken a much different stance on the matter. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has repeatedly spoken against gender-affirming care, calling it “incredibly evil.” In a July interview with The Daily Wire, Musk went so far as to claim that his child was “killed by the woke mind virus.”
Wilson, who legally changed her name in 2022, later responded to Musk’s remarks in a series of posts on Threads, saying, “I look pretty good for a dead bitch.” She also clarified that it was she who disowned Musk, not the other way around.
The ongoing feud highlights the stark difference between two public figures—one advocating for unconditional love and acceptance, and the other pushing back against the transgender community. Wayans’ stance underscores the growing conversation about parental support, acceptance, and the challenges faced by transgender individuals in today’s society.
