Elvis Presley has scored his 12th number one album in the UK almost 40 years after his death.
If I Can Dream, a collection of Elvis songs reworked by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, has shot to the top of the countdown with the second-best opening week sales of 2015.
Thrilled by the success of the new release, the late superstar’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley tells OfficialCharts.com, “This is an album that Elvis always really wanted to do and he would have been so pleased to know his fans are still there and they continue to love his music.
“The most talented team put this album together and helped us all realise an unfulfilled dream.”
Elvis beat Rod Stewart to the top spot.
Elbow frontman Guy Garvey rounds out the new top three with his debut solo album, Courting the Squall.

BACTERIA PREVENTS CANCER
By introducing a particular strain of bacteria into the digestive tracts of mice with melanoma, researchers at the University of Chicago were able to boost the ability of the animal’s immune systems to attack tumor cells.
The gains were comparable to treatment with anticancer drugs known as checkpoint inhibitors, such as anti-PD-L1 antibodies.
The combination of oral doses of the bacteria and injections with anti-PD-L1 antibody nearly abolished tumor outgrowth, the researchers report online in the journal Science. — sciencedaily.com
