Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner recently visited incarcerated firefighters at Pine Grove and Growlersberg Fire Camps.
On Friday, the 43-year-old Kardashian shared several photos on Instagram of her and her younger sister, Kendall Jenner, 28, spending time with the inmates at these firefighting camps.
The photos showed them alongside reality star Olivia Pierson and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, Scott Disick, as they met with the firefighters and discussed criminal justice reform.
In a detailed caption, Kardashian expressed her admiration for the “incredible” incarcerated firefighters who are “working tirelessly to combat the California fires.”
Kardashian, who will be portraying a lawyer in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Hulu series, All’s Fair, shared that they visited two fire camps the previous day.
Throughout their visit, Kardashian and her group wore matching all-black outfits. Kardashian sported a turtleneck halter top with baggy pants and chunky sneakers. Jenner chose a cropped, high-neck tank top, leggings, and colorful hiking boots with tall, white socks. Disick opted for a classic black T-shirt and dark sunglasses. Pierson wore a fitted top with leggings and white, chunky sneakers.
In her post, Kardashian wrote, “Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to spend time with the men at Pine Grove youth fire camp and Growlersberg Firecamp Crews 3 and 5.”
She continued, “These amazing men are incarcerated firefighters who are saving our state, homes, and communities from fire.”
Kardashian also elaborated on the program that helps young inmates join a fire camp, allowing them not only to serve the community but also to reintegrate more easily into society upon release.
“This program is the first of its kind, allowing 18-25-year-old incarcerated individuals to leave prisons and join a fire camp to serve the community,” the SKIMS founder explained. “Through this voluntary program, they can have their felony records fully expunged upon release and pursue careers in firefighting.”
Kardashian thanked the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and Cal Fire staff for their support and acknowledged everyone they met who is working hard to fight the California fires.
She also tagged film producer Scott Budnick, known for co-executive producing The Hangover, for his ongoing support of criminal justice reform, expressing, “Forever thankful to Scott Budnick for caring so much!”
The daughter of the late Robert Kardashian Sr., who was famously O.J. Simpson’s friend and defense attorney, has expressed her desire to follow in her father’s footsteps and pursue a career in law.
In 2019, she announced that she was working toward becoming a lawyer. Rather than attending law school, she opted to study for the “baby bar” exam, which she passed on her fourth attempt in October 2022.
In recent years, Kardashian has become a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform, speaking at the White House in 2019 and again in April this year about the need to reform the prison system.
She will also portray a lawyer on TV, starring in the upcoming legal drama by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, tentatively titled All’s Fair. According to W Magazine, the Hulu series, which also stars Glenn Close, will feature Kardashian as “the best, most expensive divorce lawyer leading a high-powered, all-female law firm.” The show’s release date has not yet been announced.
