Bills’ Amari Cooper predicted to sign with Broncos in free-agency

The Buffalo Bills are just days away from NFL free agency beginning and the Bills are one of many teams to make the moves possible to make a potential Super Bowl Run happen.

Buffalo will have to decide how many of their free-agents they will bring back to the team. One of their more notable ones is predicted to be heading elsewhere once the new league year begins in wide receiver Amari Cooper by the outlet:

“The Broncos badly want a veteran wide receiver to pair with second-year pro Bo Nix,” Mike Jones of The Athletic wrote when predicting the one free-agent that the Broncos will go after in free-agency. This offseason seems to be one where solid-to-great wide receivers are available in one way or another with players like Deebo Samuel being traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the Washington Commanders while players like Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf are asking for a trade.

“With the Bengals taking Tee Higgins off the free-agent market by using the franchise tag on him for a second straight offseason, Cooper is among the best options available,” Jones continues. “The 30-year-old never seemed to fully settle in with Buffalo after a midseason trade, but he should fit well with Sean Payton’s offense.”

While time will tell if the Bills have their eyes set on acquiring a big-name wide receiver like Metcalf, it’s important to note that Buffalo was able to get to the AFC Championship Game even without getting the most out of Cooper. Cooper, after being acquired from the Cleveland Browns in a mid-season trade, is coming off an uneven season in which he caught 20 of 32 passes for 297 yards (14.9 yards per reception) and two touchdowns in eight games for the Bills.

However, Buffalo expected more out of the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Alabama, especially with the receiving corps being more of a committee approach with wide receivers like Khalil Shakir and rookie Keon Coleman sharing targets with tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox. With the way Cooper ended the season, it’s not certain whether he’s a free-agent priority for the Bills, but it looks like he could become a target for another AFC team looking to make some noise in the playoffs.
