Dallas Cowboys Are Reportedly “In The Mix” To Make A Huge Splash By Signing Superstar Wide Receiver

If the Dallas Cowboys want to actually go “all-in” this year, owner and GM Jerry Jones could start by adding a big-name wide receiver like Stefon Diggs, Cooper Kupp, Keenan Allen or old Amari Cooper.

Like last year, the Cowboys have been awfully quiet in the early stages of free agency. Jones’ most expensive free agent addition thus far is veteran defensive tackle Solomon Thomas, who signed a two-year deal worth $8 million.

But according to a new report from NFL insider Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado, the Cowboys are “in the mix” to land veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp. The Super Bowl 56 MVP is expected to be released and sent to free agency if the Los Angeles Rams can’t find a trade partner.

Cooper Kupp has two seasons remaining on his contract, though it should be noted that there’s no guaranteed money on his deal for 2026.

Since winning Super Bowl 56 and 2021 Offensive Player of the Year honors (he won the triple crown of receiving), injuries have limited the 31-year-old to 33 total games. Kupp has missed at least five games each year since 2022, recording 710 receiving yards in 2024.

But Cooper Kupp averaged 59.2 yards per game in 2024, putting him at a 1,000-yard pace for a 17-game season. He also caught six passes for 90 yards in the Rams’ two playoff games as they narrowly fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round.

Cooper Kupp Would Be The Ideal Pickup For Cowboys

Since trading Amari Cooper to Cleveland in 2022, the Cowboys have been looking for a capable No. 2 receiver to help Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

Given Cooper Kupp’s age and injury history, he should be available at a reasonable price. The Cowboys could certainly use his big-game experience and production, even if Kupp is contributing 700 to 800 receiving yards a season.

Kupp should be willing to do a short-term deal for one or two seasons. If his asking price is fair, the Cowboys should be aggressive in their pursuit of the Super Bowl 56 hero.
