Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was, understandably, not super thrilled about having to drop a significant portion of his salary on the club’s rookie dinner.
Arnold was the Lions’ 2024 first-round pick (24th overall), the second cornerback taken in the class. The Alabama product was picked two spots after Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell, the first corner taken by the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 22.
On his Instagram story, Terrion Arnold revealed the ridiculous restaurant bill he had to pick up for the Lions’ “rookie dinner” event back on Jan. 8. The group of 20 people went to the luxurious Sexy Steak restaurant in Detroit, and boy did the players ever take advantage of having a “free” dinner.
Terrion Arnold’s receipt shows that he had to pay $80,000 for the group of 20 players. The bill also included a massive 22-percent large party service fee that cost him $17,600 more, plus $4,800 in taxes.
Arnold’s final bill? $102,400.
Yes, he can easily afford that as a professional athlete. But according to Spotrac, Terrion Arnold’s rookie deal is a four-year pact worth $14.343 million, and his 2024 base salary was only $795,000.
If Arnold can grow into the All-Pro-caliber shutdown corner that the Lions envisioned, he could get over $100 million on his next deal. And then he can afford to pick up six-figure dinner tabs like it’s nothing a little more frequently.

The 21-year-old Arnold had a tough rookie season on a Detroit defense that was derailed by injuries. Though he had 10 pass breakups, the former Alabama star recorded zero interceptions and allowed 660 receiving yards, four touchdowns and a 93.7 passer rating when targeted, per Pro Football Reference.
Of course, few highly-touted cornerbacks succeed in their rookie years. Arnold has the skill set to be a perennial Pro Bowler in this league, and he should easily fare much better in 2025.
