Kansas City Chiefs News
Things are still a bit gloomy in Chiefs Kingdom, but we will soon turn the page to reconstructing the roster for the 2025 season.
Kansas City knows how to bounce back from adversity, and it also knows what it takes to stay on top. Before their Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week, the Chiefs’ last postseason defeat was all the way back in the 2021 AFC Championship game to the Cincinnati Bengals.
During the following offseason, K.C. made the bold decision to trade wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Then, the Chiefs hit a home run in the 2022 NFL Draft, giving the team an infusion of good, young talent. All of that led to them winning back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023.
ESPN analyst Dan Graziano understands the Chiefs’ history of coming back strong. Here’s what he had to say when making his Super Bowl prediction for next year:
“Chiefs over (Washington) Commanders,” Graziano predicted. “I’m not taking the result of one game to mean the Chiefs are done winning Super Bowls with (QB) Patrick Mahomes. Look forward to two weeks of ‘Is (Commanders QB) Jayden Daniels the next Mahomes?’ conversations leading up to the Super Bowl next season.”
The Chiefs certainly have work to do if they want to reach the big game for a fourth straight year. They have a huge need at left tackle, and have important decisions to make regarding key free agents such as guard Trey Smith, linebacker Nick Bolton, safety Justin Reid, and defensive tackle Charles Omenihu.
If K.C. can retain a couple of those guys and find a solution at LT, it’s reasonable to believe that it can return to the Super Bowl. A matchup against the up-and-coming Commanders would be fantastic. Daniels is quickly shooting up the QB ranks to join a tier close to Mahomes. The Chiefs will face Washington during the 2025 regular season.
