The New York Giants will need to pivot at quarterback following news that Matthew Stafford is returning to the Los Angeles Rams.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams and Staffed reached an agreement on a restructured deal that will keep him in Los Angeles and halts any trade speculation.
The Giants were in a three-way race with the Rams and Las Vegas Raiders for Stafford. It was previously reported that both New York and Las Vegas discussed a two-year deal for Stafford in the range of $90-$100 million guaranteed. But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Stafford elected to take less money to stay with the Rams after meetings with the Giants and Raiders at the NFL Scouting Combine.
New York had made Stafford their No. 1 priority this offseason, so this is less than idea. But with Stafford off the board, Schefter reported that the Giants are now shifting their focus to other veteran quarterbacks, including former Green Bay Packers and current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
