Kelly Clarkson showed off her versatile vocal range in a new Kellyoke cover of Chris Stapleton’s emotional country ballad,“Tennessee Whiskey.”  And as always, the notes she hit during her performance were unreal.

During this performance—featured on February 10’s Kelly Clarkson Show—the pop icon sported a long, flow-y midi skirt and a country-inspired graphic T-shirt. The song started out with a slow, steady tempo while purple and yellow lights flashed behind her.

“Used to spend my nights out in a barroom,” she started with heavy vibrato.

“Liquor was the only love I’ve known,” she continued while flipping into a softer head voice. “But you rescued me from reachin’ for the bottom, and brought me back from being too far gone.”

Then, the background vocals kicked in with perfect harmony. “You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey; you’re as sweet as strawberry wine,” she crooned, fluctuating between powerful and soft vocals with ease.

“You’re as warm as a glass of brandy,” she then belted her heart out before singing, “and honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time,”

She then pulled off the most mind-blowing whistle note while singing “you’re as smooth as whiskey,” that’ll send chills down your spine.

To wrap the song up, she vulnerably sang “Tennessee whiskey…” on repeat until the piano gently faded out and the audience erupted in cheers.

This isn’t the only time Clarkson has performed an emotional country ballad on her show. In September 2022, she brought on fellow The Voice star Blake Shelton to perform an acoustic rendition of his first major hit, “Austin.”

During the intimate performance, Shelton started off by strumming the intro of the song on his guitar while Clarkson harmonized with the chorus. “If it’s anybody else, wait for the tone, you know what to do. And P.S, if this Austin, I still love you,” she crooned beautifully.

Clarkson also brought in the one and only Dolly Parton in November 2022 to rehearse their cover of Parton’s classic 1980 hit “9 to 5.” During their warmups, their voices blended together seamlessly as they sang the upbeat song perfectly.

“Workin’ 9 to 5, oh, what a way to make a livin’; barely gettin’ by, it’s all takin’ and no givin,’” they crooned together while using some serious twang
