Los Angeles Rams should make a big splash and sign recently released superstar wide receiver to build around Matthew Stafford

Tuesday morning, the New York Jets announced they were releasing Davante Adams. After previously allowing him to seek a trade, the Jets elected to release him, letting him find his next landing spot on his own.

The Los Angeles Rams should be all over adding Davante Adams to the roster. He would be the perfect solution to a problem the Rams desperately need to solve next season.

Los Angeles got suffocated by man coverage last season. Puka Nacua isn’t a great separator and Cooper Kupp lost a step. Far too often, the team just lacked any vertical threat to open things up.

When the Rams won the Super Bowl, Odell Beckham Jr. played that role. In 2018 in another Super Bowl appearance, it was Brandin Cooks. They need a more natural separator and a player who opens things up for the rest of the room.

Davante Adams isn’t quite as dynamic as he used to be, but he is still one of the best pure separators in the game and would fit right into the Rams’ offense.

Last season, Adams finished 14th in ESPN’s separation metrics, just one spot behind CeeDee Lamb and tied with Ladd McConkey and Nico Collins. He finished a full five points ahead of Puka and a whopping 23 ahead of Demarcus Robinson, the Rams’ next-best wide receiver.

He would be that go-to player out wide who would change the dynamics of LA’s offense with Sean McVay.

Adams even wants to return to the West Coast.

Other teams could outbid the Rams for Davante Adams, but this is exactly the kind of move that pushed the Rams into two Super Bowl appearances. Adams is still highly effective and would be the perfect player to put into the offense.

Additionally, this would allow the Rams to get creative with their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Their most pressing needs would be addressed beforehand with QB, OT, and WR all occupied, and this move could allow them to explore several different avenues with that pick.

It makes too much sense for Los Angeles, especially if they are serious about pushing for one final Super Bowl run with Matthew Stafford under center.
