Former Los Angeles Rams’ Aaron Donald has long been known for his relentless work ethic, but according to Matthew Stafford, his intensity once proved too much for a Make-A-Wish kid.
During an appearance on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, the Rams quarterback recalled a weird moment when Donald put a young fan through a grueling workout that ended with the teen throwing up.
The young fan, a high school football player, had overcome cancer and wished to spend a day with Donald. When the moment arrived, the Rams’ defensive tackle wasted no time putting him to work.
“AD was like, ‘Cool, come work out with me,’” Matthew Stafford said. “And next thing you know, this kid is puking in the trash can.”

Donald, famous for his relentless training routine, showed no mercy even in a special moment. Stafford, clearly in awe of his teammate’s intensity, couldn’t help but call him out. “I’m like, ‘AD! Can you please have a little couth? A little understanding?!’” he recalled.
Aaron Donald’s response? Pure competitiveness. “‘You want to be AD? You gotta work like AD,’” Stafford recounted. “How many do we do? ‘Till we throw up.’”
The moment may have been intense, but it highlighted Donald’s never-give-up mindset, the one that has made him one of the most dominant players in NFL history.
