NFL fans are losing their minds over the stunning Seattle Seahawks-Pittsburgh Steelers blockbuster trade on Sunday.

Soon after news broke about superstar wide receiver Davante Adams signing a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported another big WR move: Seattle traded D.K. Metcalf to the Steelers for a 2025 second-round pick.

With a year remaining on his deal, Metcalf also received a five-year contract extension worth $150 million, per Rapoport and Pelissero.

Metcalf requested a trade from the Seahawks earlier this week, and it didn’t take long for GM John Schneider to grant his wish. And as you’d expect, social media had plenty of wild reactions to the blockbuster deal:

“Most problematic WR room ever 😭😭😭,” one fan said.

“We had AB & LeVeon at the same time…and Martavis & Plaxico. we’ be fine,” said another.

“DK and Pickens gonna be a handful for AFC secondaries 💥,” wrote a user.

“DK Metcalf wanted to join a contender, a team with a stable QB situations & a warm climate. And the Seahawks traded him to the Steelers!?” quipped another.

“So he went to a cold weather city with no QB…,” a fan wrote.

“Seattle fans thought they were getting a 1st and a 3rd for him lulz,” a user said.

It’s been a wild week for the Seahawks, to say the least. Metcalf’s trade request went public hours after the team released fan favorite and veteran wideout Tyler Lockett after 10 seasons.

And then on Friday, two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2025 third-round pick. With that, the once-stacked offense now features Sam Howell atop the QB depth chart with Jaxson Smith-Njigba as the only proven receiver.

The trade for Metcalf addresses one of Pittsburgh’s two pressing needs heading into the offseason. Now that they have their No. 1 receiver, GM Omar Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin have to figure out the QB situation.

Bringing back Justin Fields or Russell Wilson should be on the table, especially considering the latter’s chemistry with Metcalf in Seattle. Aaron Rodgers and Sam Darnold headline the QB free agent class, though Pittsburgh could always look at drafting a new QB as well.
