One of the league’s worst NFL teams has emerged as the betting favorites to land Aaron Rodgers, and it might be a sign that it’s time for him to walk away while he’s ahead.
Last month, the New York Jets announced that they were moving on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Though a trade is a possibility, he’ll likely be outright released and become a free agent for the first time in his career.
Though the Jets were football’s biggest disappointment in 2024 (a 5-12 record), Rodgers showed he can still play at a high level by throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. But given the age and all the baggage he carries, it’s anyone’s guess how big his market will be in free agency.
The New York Giants have emerged as the favorites to land the four-time league MVP and future Hall of Famer at multiple sportsbooks, including DraftKings (-150), Bet365 (+175) and Odds Shark (-150).
If the Giants truly have the most interest in landing Aaron Rodgers, it’s a good indicator that he’s better off retiring instead of negatively affecting his legacy by going on for too long (see: Brett Favre, Joe Namath, etc).
Rodgers could turn a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders or Seattle Seahawks into playoff contenders. But if the G-Men are the only club with a serious interest, Rodgers should probably retire instead of playing for another one of football’s most dysfunctional organizations.
Which Team Is The Ideal Landing Spot For Aaron Rodgers?

The Steelers stand out as the best possible landing spot for Rodgers, given how they’ve been admirably competitive under head coach Mike Tomlin despite mediocre quarterback play.
Putting Rodgers on a team with George Pickens, a stout offensive line and a top-10 defense could help Pittsburgh re-emerge as title contenders. Not to mention that adding Rodgers would likely mean making a play for Davante Adams, too.
