NFLPA survey continues to show Tampa Bay Buccaneer players hold a questionable opinion of the Glazer family

The final days of February are here, and that means the NFL Players Association survey results for 2025 have been posted.  Players of all 32 teams were surveyed about a number of different factors relating to their own franchises.

Players for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave their input, and one thing was clear: they still don’t think all that highly of the Glazer family – at least compared to players around the league regarding their ownership groups.

Bucs players gave the Glazer family a low grade for the second straight year for “ownership”, a D+.  The players gave them a D- last year.

The survey results had the following to say about how Bucs players more specifically responded to questions about ownership.

– The Glazer family’s average rating for perceived willingness to invest in the facilities is 6.50 out of 10 from the Buccaneers players, a ranking of 27 out of 32 owners in the league.

– The players feel that the Glazer family slightly contributes to a positive team culture, a rank of 27 out of 32.

– The players feel that the Glazer family is somewhat committed to building a competitive team, a rank of 26 of the 32 NFL owners.

To a degree, it’s understandable regarding the willingness to invest in the facilities. Raymond James Stadium isn’t particularly new, and the stadium locker room is particularly cramped, especially when compared to the space they have at their lockers over at One Buc Place – which some players still said wasn’t enough per the survey.

The Glazers are also a hands-off ownership group, both as far as not leaning on their managerial staff as well as not overly interacting with the players.  And that’s fine.  They are often there at road games greeting players as they come into the locker room.  If that is a reason for “slightly” contributing to team culture, then, well, be glad you don’t have Jerry Jones, David Tepper, or Jim Irsay as your team’s owner.

However, them being “somewhat committed to building a competitive team” seems a bit unfair.  They did what they needed to do to bring in the greatest player to ever play the game in Tom Brady and win a Super Bowl title.  They’ve been willing to pay money at or near the top of the market to keep in-house talent who have earned major raises from leaving Tampa Bay. They haven’t as much recently thrown huge money at outside free agents, but that’s in part because they’ve drafted and developed quite well.

Perhaps there are other aspects spilling over into how the players feel about their ownership group.  Per the survey, the Bucs don’t give first class flight options, don’t have a family room at the stadium on game days, and the locker room has issues with cleanliness and plumbing.  Maybe if the Glazers listened to their players here, that grade would take a significant bump up in 2026.

Or maybe if Bryan Glazer lifted up the Lombardi Trophy and handed it to Baker Mayfield in February. That might make those in pewter and red uniforms very happy.
