Kirk Herbstreit made some weird, unfounded comments regarding Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams during Thursday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks @ Bears – NFL Game Recap for December 26, 2024

In the third quarter of that game, while the Bears were on offense, the color analyst started to dive into something else since neither team was giving them anything to speak on.

He made a comment about rookie quarterback Caleb Williams that rubbed fans the wrong way.

He speculated about whether Williams has the discipline to be the “first guy in, last guy out” type of quarterback.

What made his comments terrible was that he quickly admitted he hadn’t heard anything to suggest Williams wasn’t already doing those things.

“I think the thing that remains to be seen — and only time will tell — is if he understands what it takes to be an NFL quarterback as far as the preparation, as far as the first guy there, last guy leaving. And I’m not suggesting he’s not doing those things, but just all of those little things that really make the great quarterbacks special.”

Williams finished 16-of-28 for 122 yards, getting sacked seven times on Thursday Night Football.

Chicago’s offense recorded just 179 total yards and averaged a mere 3.1 yards per play. The team converted five of 15 opportunities on third down.

Caleb Williams’ Rookie Season Marred By Terrible Losing Streak

There was once a time when the Bears had a record above .500.

The Chicago Bears struggled mightily during a 6-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football. Much like the rest of his 2024 games, Williams saw a lot of time on the ground.

The 2024 NFL draft’s No. 1 overall pick has now been sacked at least seven times in four separate games throughout his rookie season.

This latest loss gave the Bears their 10th consecutive defeat, tying a franchise record.

Caleb Williams, 23, has thrown for 3,393 yards and 19 touchdowns, six interceptions, and an 87.4 passer rating through 16 games.
