Gwen Stefani made her Grand Ole Opry debut with Blake Shelton on Saturday night (May 9). The couple performed their No. 1 single “Nobody But You,” live from Ole Red in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
Shelton and Stefani joined Trace Adkins and Dustin Lynch, who were performing at an empty Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, during the Opry’s 4,923rd consecutive Saturday night performance.
“Big doings this week, that duet you did with Gwen went No. 1, congratulations,” Adkins told Shelton.
“That’s Gwen’s very first country single at all, much less her very first No. 1 country single, so she’s on cloud nine, she couldn’t be more excited about it. You know how she is, she is just happy to be apart of all this stuff,” Shelton explained before his longtime girlfriend joined him.
“She is very excited about it, they actually sent her, because we weren’t able to be there ’cause of this, they sent her, her parking place thing that they give everybody for their first performance and they sent the Grand Ole Opry microphone stand. She was just taken back by the back that they were so kind and I told her that it’s an honor for us to have her. She’s very happy to be able to be here tonight and perform on the Grand Ole Opry,” Shelton continued.
Stefani later joined Shelton for her big moment.
“Okay everybody this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for,” Shelton teased. “This is Gwen Stefani everybody,”
“Is this happening, am I really on the Grand Ole Opry,” Stefani gushed.
“As an Opry member, I am very honored to have you on this show, and even though we’re doing the Oklahoma Ole Red Grand Ole Opry appearance because of everything that’s going on, we gotta get you to the Opry House in Nashville and do this that way also,” Shelton shared.
“This is already insane, that would be another level,” Stefani admitted.
Saturday night’s Opry livestream was hosted by Bobby Bones.
