Chris Stapleton’s tribute cover of Willie Nelson’s “uncoverable” classic is not just a song—it’s an emotional journey. From the first note, it’s clear this isn’t just a cover; it’s a deep, soul-shaking tribute. His voice, raw and full of heart, pours life into a song that seemed impossible to touch. Every word feels like it’s reaching into your core, and by the time the last chord rings out, you’ll be left breathless, teary-eyed, and completely overwhelmed by the raw emotion in the air.

Although producing hit songs like “Broken Halos”, “Starting Over” and “Tennessee Whiskey”, Chris Stapleton offered his talents to stars including Brad Paisley, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, and even Taylor Swift. When it comes to Stapleton, each performance appeared to be a master class in how to entertain a crowd and capture the spotlight. Let’s not forget it was Stapleton who produced that mesmerizing performance of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. And speaking about performances, Stapleton once honored Willie Nelson when he covered “Always on my Mind.”

Having spent decades in the music industry, Nelson had more than enough hit songs to pick when wanting to celebrate the icon. But for Stapleton, he found “Always on my Mind” to be the perfect song for the occasion And while the performance happened back in 2023, it continues to prove the raw power behind Stapleton.

Looking at what fans had to say about the performance, comments read, “As much as I love Chris, and man I appreciate his balls. That is an uncoverable song.” another person appeared to agree, adding, “I still think Willie’s version is the best. Something about that ache in his voice.” Yet, maybe the most relatable comment was the one that stated, “This song always makes me cry.”

Great Advice Chris Stapleton Received From His Daughter

With over two decades worth of experience in the music industry, one would think that Stapleton mastered the process of writing a hit song. But for the singer, he once admitted to getting a little help from his daughter.

Speaking with Apple Music, Stapleton explained, “I used to think if I couldn’t remember [a song], it wasn’t any good. So there would be things like ideas I wouldn’t write down or melodies I wouldn’t save. And then if I would wake up the next day and I wouldn’t remember it, in my mind… it was not a thing. I don’t subscribe to that anymore.”

Giving her father some great advice, Stapleton revealed, “My daughter is fooling around with writing songs and she said the exact same thing to me. [She] was like, ‘No, no, that’s not true. If you have something that you think is cool in a moment, just put it down, and… put it in your phone, and it’s okay to forget things and then come back to them and go, ‘Oh, that was cool,’ and work on them some more. It’s okay.”

With Stapleton’s daughter making sure he kept his ideas in a safe place, one can only wonder how many great songs the country star never remembered.
