Gwen Stefani made a surprise appearance onstage on the opening night of the Houston Rodeo to sing with her husband, Blake Shelton.

On Tuesday, Shelton was headlining the first night of the world’s biggest rodeo and livestock show, playing popular hits like “God’s Country.” Then Stefani surprised the crowd and stepped out on stage in a sparkling lavender fringed dress. The couple performed their new duet, “Purple Irises,” a ballad Stefani wrote about unconditional love and growing together.

The duo released “Purple Irises” in early February, when it launched as Shelton’s 38th top 10 hit on the Country Digital Song Sales chart and Stefani’s fourth. The song gave Shelton more top-10 hits than any other solo male country artist, according to Billboard.

Shelton and Stefani also sang “Nobody But You” at the rodeo, according to Taste of Country, which is one of two No. 1 hits the husband and wife duo has released. The couple has collaborated several times to sing about their love, including with a remake of “Love Is Alive” for the Judds tribute album that came out in October.

Shelton is currently on his “Back to the Honky Tonk” tour, while Stefani is slated to perform with No Doubt at Coachella in April. The pair first met on The Voice as coaches and started dating shortly after. They later married on July 3, 2021 at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch with Voice host Carson Daly officiating the nuptials. From what we’re hearing onstage, sounds like they’re still going strong.
