Kelly Clarkson brought the house down with a jaw-dropping cover of Brooks & Dunn’s ’90s classic, “She’s Not the Cheatin’ Kind.” With a voice that could stop time, she owned every lyric, channeling heartbreak and grit into each note. The familiar country anthem turned electric under her command, leaving the audience hanging on every word as if it were their own story. By the final chord, she didn’t just sing the song—she made it unforgettable.

Kelly Clarkson country music

She does it again.

I can never get enough of Kelly Clarkson covering country classics, and recently on her daytime talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show, she sang the heck outta Brooks & Dunn’s “She’s Not the Cheatin’ Kind.”

Written by Ronnie Dunn, the song was released in August of 1994 as the lead single from their Waitin’ on Sundown album. It peaked at the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) chart, and became their seventh #1 hit at country radio.

Of course, Kelly is known to cover the heck outta some country pretty often on her show, and obviously she’s an incredible vocalist so she really never disappoints.

Every time she does, too, fans in the comments section will point out that Kelly really needs to release a country album one day… or at the very least, an album full of country covers.

I mean, the first comment on this Youtube video is the perfect example:

“We need a country album from her. It’s about damn time!”

Co-sign…

The Texas native has been quite outspoken about her love for country, and also her critiques of the genre, and I think she would probably do a better job than any other pop star trying to get in on the popularity of country in the mainstream right now.

Anywho, I love hearing her take on a little 90’s country, and this one is well worth your time to check out… it’s also one of my favorites from Brooks & Dunn’s expansive and legendary catalog:
