Lainey Wilson Blows the 'Nashville's Big Bash' Crowd Away with a Whirlwind Performance of "4x4xU" on New Year's Eve - American Songwriter

2024 has been a great year for Lainey Wilson. She released her new album Whirlwind earlier this year and took her brand of country music around the globe on her Country’s Cool Again Tour. Tonight (December 31), she’s putting a cherry on top of her year with a show-stopping performance during New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash.

Many fans agree that Wilson puts on one of the most electrifying shows in country music today. Tonight, everyone watching Nashville’s Big Bash from home and those at Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge got a taste of the show she took around the world.

She took the stage early in the night, decked out in black leather, rhinestones, and fringe to deliver a soulful performance of her sweet single “4x4xU.”

Lainey Wilson Is in It for the Long Haul

Earlier this year, Lainey Wilson sat down with American Songwriter to talk about her whirlwind ride to the top, touring in Australia, and more. During the conversation, she talked about what drives her as an artist.

“At the end of the day, the awards are a good feeling, I’m not gonna lie. Everybody likes to be recognized. You feel like you’re on the right track. But, I have to remind myself that I didn’t start doing this to win awards,” the then-CMA Entertainer of the Year said. “I need to accept the gift and appreciate it and move on from it and do it again,” she added.

“If I never win another award in my life, that’s okay because when I was nine years old and I was writing my first song, I wasn’t thinking about writing that song to win an ACM, CMA, or a Grammy,” Wilson said.  “And I’ve got to make sure I keep that mentality because I feel like it could easily get lost if I let it. When you start doing things for the wrong reasons, I think it shines through in everything you do.”

There’s no news on what Wilson has planned for 2025. However, she has proven herself to be one of the hardest-working artists in country music. So, it’s safe to assume that she won’t spend the next year resting on her laurels.
