Jelly Roll had his favorite friends on full display Thursday night when his record label, BBR Music Group, hosted an invite-only music industry party with a decades theme for radio personnel at Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.
Guests were encouraged to dress to impress in garb from their favorite decade, and artists—including Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Drew Baldridge, Alexandra Kay, and The Frontmen—chose cover songs from different eras to entertain the crowd.
Jelly Roll closed the show with a rousing version of Garth Brooks’ “Friends In Low Places.”
A slimmed-down Jelly Roll took the stage wearing a black shirt, pants, denim vest, and a backwards-turned ballcap.
The crowd cheered loudly when the band played the first note of “Friends In Low Places” and bellowed the lyrics along with him for most of the song. The Nashville native sang the song with a grin and a smirk and appeared to be having the time of his life. At one point, he accepted a cell phone from an audience member and filmed on stage with it while he sang.

At the end of the song, he, Wilson, and the other artists who performed during his label’s showcase onto the stage to sing with him. Label head Jon Loba was on stage in a metallic jacket wearing a rainbow mohawk wig he noted “didn’t breathe at all.”
Loba danced with his artists, who shared microphones, sang along, and created an easy-going environment of infectious fun for the audience.
While Jelly Roll’s song might have had the most artist participation, Wilson made an impression with her cover of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.” Her new engagement ring is so substantial that it nearly doubled as a mirror ball when the stage lights reflected off it. Combined with her charismatic stage presence, snake print bellbottoms, and one of the ‘80s most iconic rock songs, Wilson was an indisputable highlight.
By the chorus, the audience screamed the lyrics along with her. She spun in circles, her fringe flying, then leaned down to shake hands with the audience. One over-eager fan didn’t want to let go. The rangy ‘80s rock song gave Wilson the chance to show off her voice – along with her ring.
