The show, created by Meredith Scardino and produced by Tina Fey,features a ’90s girls’ group trying to revive their careers.
It stars Sara Bareilles, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell, and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
Busy commented on the show’s axe on her Doing Her Best podcast, saying: “It’s dead. Yeah. I’m just saying it because, f**k it. If Netflix won’t, I will.
“I guess not enough people watched it or watched it the way that counts or I don’t know. I actually just don’t know.”
But she held hope that there is time to resurrect it as a live show, saying:“So there’s time. I don’t think it’ll ever be dead-dead. The characters are too good.
“I’ve even joked with the cast, like, we should do Radio City or turn it into a live stage show — a musical, maybe even Broadway someday.”
She lamented that one of the problems could have been the name, saying: “I think it’s possible it alienates men — like straight f****g dudes.
“Has anyone ever done a study on how women-forward titles affect the success of shows?”
Busy is known for her roles in Dawson’s Creek and ER.
Sarah Bareilles is a singer and songwriter who has sold over three million albums and over 15 million singles in the USA.
Paula Bell is a comedy writer, producer and actress.
Renée Elise Goldsberry has appeared in the original Broadway musical of Hamilton.
The first two series streamed on Peacock from 2021 to 2022, and Netflix took up the third season in March 2024 before it was axed.
