They were firstly irked by the fact singer Creigh Riepe was given the boot after he battled it out with Lauren Michael-Sellers.
The Voice duo both tackled Dear Evan Hansen track You Will Be Found, with judge Gwen Stefani, 55, hailing it a “crazy” battle.
Her fellow judge, Home singer Michael Buble, 49, then added: “There are things about either of you that would make me lean towards either one, but on a show called The Voice, both of you have the voice.”
After Snoop Dogg, 53, had his take, it was down to Reba McEntire, 69, to make the final decision.
The country singer opted to save Lauren and told the show: “You want to hear somebody that gives you joy.
“I think the women watching this show will really fall in love with her.
“I mean she could be the lady that just lives down the road from you, and she can sing so well, and it just really hit me hard.”
Yet fans were hugely disappointed as “Beach Boy”-esq Creigh said farewell – saying the “wrong person went home.”
One took to X to write: “Devastated to see Creigh be eliminated, one of my favorite auditions and I thought he performed better in his battle too, though I do really like Lauren-Michael as well.”
Another pleaded on Reddit: “WHY DIDN’T YOU STEAL CREIGH??
“72% of the app wanted him to stay both of them were great.”
DOUBLE BLOW
Yet the drama wasn’t over for The Voice fans as a cliffhanger kept them well and truly guessing.
While the show revealed Stancil had been ‘stolen’ by Snoop Dogg, Reba and Michael, they did not extend the coverage further to document who he had chosen.
This led to a flood of complaints on social media site X after the show aired a final scene showing text across the screen which read: “To be continued tomorrow night …”
The Voice coaches for Season 27
On June 5, 2024, it was revealed which four well-known musical acts would take a seat in the spinning coaches chair next year.
In a video shared on The Voice’s official social media accounts, they shared videos from the Season 27 coaches.
Adam Levine
Adam was one of the original coaches during Season 1 of the reality TV series alongside Blake Shelton, CeeLo Green, and Christina Aguilera.
The singer is most known for his role as the frontman of pop music group Maroon 5.
Kelsea Ballerini
The Grammy-award nominated artist will join The Voice in 2025.
However, during Season 20, she filled in for coach Kelly Clarkson.
John Legend
Returning coach John has been on the show since Season 16 in 2019.
The R&B singer, also married to Chrissy Teigen, was on the show during Season 12 as an advisor.
Michael Bublé
Michael will be joining The Voice during Season 26 and will continue his role as a coach during Season 27.
In the fall, he will sit alongside Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Gwen Stefani.
One fan was quick to write: “Really, Now we all have to wait till tomorrow night that gave me a cliffhanger.”
Another posted: “TO BE CONTINUED???? ok… byeee!!”
One then mused: “I feel a steal coming on with this one!!”
Away from the music, fans were also quick to note judge Gwen’s “cool” new look.
ALL CHANGE?
The U.S. Sun previously reported how the NBC competition show has changed from its goal of discovering new talent, as fans tune in to see coaches like Gwen instead of potential talent.
A source told The U.S. Sun, “The Voice has more in common with pro wrestling than a legitimate talent competition at this point.
“It’s about seeing famous personalities from back in the day mix it up and show unexpected sides of themselves,” the insider said of the coaches. “It’s a little sad that it’s not a place to see future pop stars anymore.
“But even on this diminished scale, it can still make money and still get people talking. There’s a reason it’s lasted this long, and it’s the vibrant mix of hosts, not the contestants.”
The insider continued, “It’s becoming a bit of a ‘Dancing With the Stars’-style project filled with nostalgia for the recent pop culture past.
“Nobody’s turning on the show to discover a future pop star anymore. The format has evolved past that, and that’s reflected in this updated cast.”
The source added, “This show is about hanging out for an hour a week with the huge artists you grew up with, and nobody is pretending that isn’t the reason people are tuning in!”
