American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest branded a ‘riot’ with Taylor Swift antics live on stage
On the latest episode of American Idol, two contestants sang Taylor Swift songs for Billboard #1’s night and Ryan broke out his Taylor merch to celebrate
Ryan Seacrest showed his love for Taylor Swift on the latest episode of American Idol.
On Monday night, the top 12 performed Billboard #1 songs of their choice. And since Taylor has 11 total #1 songs on the chart, there was no surprise that not one, but two, singers covered the 34-year-old singer’s hits.
The show kicked off with Abi Carter performing All Too Well for judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. After Abi’s performance, Ryan walked out in an oversized black Taylor Swift Eras tour t-shirt.

“It’s my sleep shirt. I got it extra big,” Ryan said as the audience cheered. Judge Katy Perry could be heard shouting from the judges’ table: “Ryan, you’re a Swiftie?”
Ryan turned to Abi and asked her if she listened to Taylor’s newest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which came out a few days ago. “Of course, I’ve listened to every song,” she said.
“How many times?” Ryan asked. When Abi answered three, Ryan emphatically said: “Me too!”
Then later in the show, McKenna Faith Breinholt sang Cardigan from Taylor’s Folklore album. After her performance, the show’s longtime host came out wearing a buttoned-up white cardigan with black detailing – another one of Taylor’s merch items.
“Oh wow I think I have that,” Katy said, referring to the sweater. Ryan quipped back: “We all do.”

Fans on social media loved the outfit changes. “Ryan you are a riot,” one fan on Twitter wrote.
“RYAN’S SHIRT HELPPPP,” another fan wrote. Others knew exactly the shirt he was wearing as a fan penned: “Omg Ryan Seacrest is wearing the evermore eras tour shirt.”
Some fans wanted his wardrobe, writing: “RYAN GIVE ME THAT FOLKLORE CARDIGAN I DESERVE IT MORE.”
Besides raving about Ryan’s outfits, social media users expressed their anger over who was eliminated at the end of the night. 12 became 10 as singers Jayna Elise and Roman Collins were voted out.
“This elimination on #AmericanIdol was soooo wrong,” one fan wrote. Another added simply: “I hate this show.”
