‘Jeopardy!’ contestant makes stuns as he reveals the $h0cking reason why ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ rejected him

Ken Jennings was welcoming the guests to Jeopardy! on Wednesday’s episode. There is a part of the show where Ken asks questions to get to know the players better. For one player, Sam Nguyen, Ken asked about a time when the player tried out for Wheel of Fortune. That is when Sam said the game show rejected him because of Jeopardy!

Here is why Sam said he missed out on one game show because he loved another.

Jeopardy! Player Talks Wheel Of Fortune Rejecting Him

Sam Nguyen took part in the interview segment on Jeopardy! and Ken Jennings asked him about his attempt to get on Wheel of Fortune. According to Sam, he mentioned this game show when trying out for the previous one, and it angered the casting department.

Sam, a tax accountant from Hyattsville, Maryland, said he tried out for Wheel of Fortune six years ago. “But unfortunately, I made the grave mistake of saying that I’m actually more of a Jeopardy! fan,” he admitted. “And in a room full of Wheel of Fortune enthusiasts. It didn’t go over well” (via The U.S. Sun).

He said he only made things worse when one of the coordinators asked if he had ever appeared on Jeopardy! He answered that after he gets on Wheel of Fortune, he would go on Jeopardy! next.

Ken laughed as Sam said that pretty much ruled him out of the Wheel of Fortune opportunity.  Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune often air head-to-head and even share the same studio lot in Culver City, California. It sounds like there is some rivalry and competition between the shows.

Sam Didn’t Win On Jeopardy! Either

While Sam achieved his dream of competing on Jeopardy!, he didn’t win when he finally got there. Sam played against Molly LeBlanc, an administrative assistant from New Orleans, Louisiana, and defending champion Bill McKinney, a VP of restaurants & bars from Boston, Massachusetts.

Heading into Final Jeopardy!, Bill sat in the lead as he found all three Daily Doubles. His lead was mostly insurmountable, with $14,800 compared to Sam at $3,200 and Molly at $2,000. The Final Jeopardy! category was “The World of Science.”

“Nobelprize.org says some papers of this scientist ‘are stored in lead boxes,’ a ‘legacy that is literally untouchable,’” Ken Jennings read to the three competitors. Everyone was correct with the answer: “Who was Marie Curie?”

Bill won with $18,100. For the runners-up, Sam had $4,001 and Molly had $4,000. The final question had many fans complain that it was way too easy.
