In an interview with Fast Company, Selena Gomez shared the reason why she quit social media after becoming the most followed woman on Instagram in 2018. Accordingly, she admitted that her breakup with Justin Bieber influenced her decision.

“My heart was just broken, I didn’t feel the need to see what everyone else was doing,” the former Disney star recalled. “Then there were moments where I didn’t feel positive about the way I looked because of what I saw on Instagram. I wished I had a body that looked like that.”

In the same interview, Selena admitted that her body changes affected the way she saw herself. Previously, the Lose You To Love Me singer had “the body of a teenager” and when her body changed, she had negative thoughts.

“Now, none of the clothes I’m wearing fit me, which makes me feel embarrassed. Although isn’t it unrealistic to expect the average woman’s body to not change?” Selena continued.

At the present time, Selena Gomez affirms that she no longer feels insecure about herself as before. She even puts herself in a different category compared to stars like Beyoncé and Adele. “I look at someone like Beyoncé and I’m amazed, every part of her body is perfect. I’m not like that and that’s okay,” the star shared her new perspective, “I’m me, a little goofy but I also like to be sexy and have fun, and I also want to do good things. We have goddesses like Beyoncé and Adele, but I’m happy to be your friend.”
