Wheel of Fortune viewers fume Ryan Seacrest led show is too ‘over the top’

After Wheel of Fortune has received backlash for their extravagant new makeover, fans are bashing the all-new WOF hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

Kicking off this week, Ryan Seacrest is officially the brand new host of the beloved ABC gameshow Wheel of Fortune.

After over 40 years of hosting Wheel, Pat Sajak announced his retirement last summer, handing the wheel-spinning power to the longtime television personality.

Vanna White, who has worked alongside Pat since day one, remained on the show after a contract battle with the network over higher pay.

Since the news broke, fans were unsure about Ryan as the new host after so many decades of Pat’s familiar face.

Now that the new season has aired with a shocking stage makeover to match the new host, fans are disappointed with the makeover after viewers have labeled it ‘over the top’.

On a popular Reddit thread discussing the show, a fan begged the question: “Does anyone besides me feel like the entire new WoF is just over the top? From the set, to the contestants outfits, and even the contestants behavior.”

“Especially the male contestant tonight. To me, it’s almost like they are actors. It feels unnaturally “extra”,” they reasoned.

Although some fan calls said they wouldn’t even be watching the new version of the classic show, viewers came forward to agree with the Redditor after the first week of shows is almost complete.

One responded: “Yes for sure. I was afraid this would happen after Pat retired. Wheel of Fortune is following the trend of overproduction and fake emotion.”

“This is why Jeopardy stayed great after Alex passed and Ken finally took over. It’s not an ultra flashy show and maintained the same demeanor it always had,” another noted.

A third fan wrote: “My 4 year old daughter noticed this. She said “are those real people laughing or a microphone” referring to it sounding like a laugh track.”

“The set is horrible,” a fourth posted, while a fifth replied, “I can’t believe anyone thought, “Yeah this set design is totally great!” It looks cheap and focus tested. LED panels everywhere makes everything overly bright and frantic.”
