As usual, the rapper got passionate during the announcement of his new sneaker line — his reentry
into the market after a very messy decampment from Nike last year.
There’s never a dull moment when Kanye West goes on a rant — case in point here — and while
speaking in Germany for the Adidas Global Brand Conference, the rapper revealed his new sneaker
line for Adidas is coming in June.
“Creativity is my oxygen, I have to create. And I don’t care how crazy I look to anyone, as long as I can make the best product for all of you,” said West during his passionate speech, which was posted to YouTube Monday. “So in June, we’ll see the new Yeezis.”
West, who had released the Air Yeezys with Nike in 2009, announced his new partnership with Adidas last November after bashing Nike for being a bad business partner.
According to an Instagram photo posted by Freshness magazine, the rapper’s Adidas sneakers will be dubbed “Yeezis,” instead of “Air Yeezys.”

West continued to tell the crowd that designing sneakers was one of his childhood dreams. “To get to the point to be able to make your own shoe and have people react to it was such an amazing feeling that I could never let that go,” he said, adding that his partnership with Adidas isn’t just a celebrity advertising deal.
“With this opportunity to create, I feel like I can be myself,” he said. “This was the company that was experienced and brave enough to give me the opportunity to create.”
