Reba’s contestants light up The Voice with their energy, leaving fans sure that one will make the Top 5

Season 26 of The Voice aired a new episode on Monday, October 28, 2024. The third night of the Battles commenced as two singers from each team competed for a spot in the Knockouts. The coaches found themselves in a difficult position, having to choose one from each pair, ending the other’s journey on the show.

The remaining coaches could use their Steal button to bring the eliminated contestant to their team. In Monday’s episode, coach Reba McEntire pitted Danny Joseph against Deon James and had them sing James Brown’s classic hit It’s a Man’s Man’s World. Although the duo came with dramatically different singing styles, Reba paired them knowing they would do the song justice.

After a note-worthy performance, Reba was left with a difficult decision. However, after much contemplation, she announced Danny as the Battle’s winner, sending Deon home, but before Deon could leave the stage, coach Gwen Stefani used her Steal and scouted him for her team.

The Voice fans took to X to comment on Danny and Deon’s performance. They applauded the singers for taking on a powerful song and delivering a Battle worthy of a steal.

However, one fan felt their performance was average and mentioned things that could have been improved.

Another fan of The Voice said they preferred Deon over Danny, claiming he had a more advanced skillset.

What did coaches say about Danny and Deon’s performance on The Voice?

Danny chose Team Reba after earning a four-chair turn during his Blinds audition. On the contrary, Reba was the sole coach to turn for Deon. Despite the number of chair-turns each contestant got, Reba knew they had the potential to match each other and captivate the coaches and the audience.

After their performance concluded, Gwen praised Danny for showcasing his original style. She claimed he was an “incredible singer” with a unique vocal tone. At the same time, she said she loved Deon’s voice. The Voice coach said:

“It sounds so vintage to me, like it sounds like the records that you heard growing up.”

She commended the singers’ onstage chemistry, saying Danny presented his “eccentric and animated” side whereas Deon presented his “own character.”

The Voice coach Snoop Dogg echoed Gwen. He appreciated the “conviction” and “passion” with which they sang the song. The rapper claimed, “It wasn’t just singing, it was performing.”

After listening to the reviews, Reba chose Danny as the winner, stating his musical style stood out to her. While Deon thanked Reba for the opportunity, Gwen hit her Steal button, making him the newest member of Team Gwen.

“I had to steal Deon. I couldn’t let him go home. It seems like he could do almost anything with his voice,” Gwen added.
