The former Voice coach is teaming up with Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan for something really epic.
Hold on to your hats, country music fans: Blake Shelton is returning to TV.
Just six months after leaving The Voice, the Oklahoma native is back on a new singing competition show set to debut next fall on CBS. The show, which currently has the working title The Road, will be produced by Blake along with Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan, Lee Metzger and David Glasser. It’s a docu-series that follows an already established musician on a journey to discover the next big artist.
According to the press release, “Singers will join the headliner on tour, performing as opening acts in venues across the country. They will compete to win over local fanbases to secure a spot in the next city and remain on the tour.”
Although Blake, who was featured as a coach on NBC’s The Voice for 23 seasons, is well-versed in the world of singing competition shows, he seems genuinely thrilled about this next big adventure.
“I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on The Road,” he said in the press release. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”
Taylor, who is also behind shows like Mayor of Kingstown and Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 and 1923, certainly feels the same way.
“There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture,” Taylor said in the press release.
Safe to say, viewers are in for a whole lot of fun.
