Screenshots show the final texts Liam Payne sent to his close friend hours before his death.

Jodie Richards taught the former One Direction star at her performing arts company in Wolverhampton, and the pair stayed in close contact (see 18.13 post).

Payne had messaged Jodie on Monday to ask her what she was doing. She replied to say she was with her son, Jackson, at a gym, and Payne replied “nice”.

He later sent her a photo of himself sitting on his bed in his hotel room in the Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires, with his hand to his forehead.

After Jodie was given news of Payne’s death, she messaged him “please tell me this isn’t true” and “when I wake up, I’m sure it will all be a dream”.
