One police department that was named in a recent lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs has spoken out.

In a lawsuit filed earlier this week, a woman claimed she was sexually assaulted by Diddy in Northern California in 2018. This isn’t the first of Diddy’s charges – which he has repeatedly denied and pled not guilty to in court.

The woman claimed in the lawsuit, obtained by the US Mirror, that she told three police departments about the assault afterward “to no avail.” Now, Jimmy Lee, the director of public affairs for the Orinda Police Department has responded to her claims.

“A report was taken on March 23, 2018. We take these cases seriously, and detectives thoroughly investigated the accusations. It was later determined the claims were unfounded,” Lee said in a statement provided to The Mirror.

In the lawsuit, the woman claimed she gave the underwear she wore during the attack to the police department as evidence. She then claimed it was never returned and she believed “no investigation ever commenced.”

Orinda Police Department was the third to be named. Prior to reaching out to them, the woman allegedly reached out to the Walnut Creek Police and the Contra Costa County Sheriff.

She only named Diddy as an accuser to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s office. When that didn’t pan out, she went to the Walnut Creek Police and didn’t name Diddy because the “plaintiff was under the impression if she did continue to say Defendant Diddy’s name in relation to her assault she would not be believed and her family would be in danger.”

The woman claimed she only told the Walnut Creek Police after she went to the hospital due to her injuries from the assault. After allegedly having a rape kit done, the hospital staff called the police who the woman spoke to.

“She believed she would be ignored by the Walnut Creek Police just as she was by the Contra Costa County Sheriff and/or would be further harmed by Defendant Diddy if he discovered she named him to police,” the lawsuit read.
