Miranda Lambert is a Texan by birth, but an Oklahoman thanks to her marriage to Blake Shelton. So when she played Oklahoma City last Friday night, Lambert was right at home — even welcoming her other half to the stage to perform a surprise, acoustic duet on Shelton’s hit “God Gave Me You.”

“I don’t usually do two acoustic songs in the middle of my set, but I think I should tonight — because I brought my husband with me,” Lambert said before Shelton hit the stage.

Shelton, who was raised in Ada, Oklahoma, and now lives in Tishomingo with Lambert, greeted concertgoers with “Hello, Oklahoma,” and explained, “I wanted to do this song tonight because Miranda is the reason I recorded this song.”

The superstar couple, who will celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary in May, were seated on stools at center stage and “smiled sweetly at each other as her stellar band lingered over the last notes,” according to NewsOK’s concert review.

In addition to a Shelton guest shot, Lambert’s Certified Platinum Tour included several of the tracks from her Grammy-winning album Platinum, including the title cut, “Priscilla,” “Automatic” and “Smokin’ and Drinkin’.” While she performs the nostalgic “Smokin’ and Drinkin’” with Little Big Town on her LP, the live version pairs her with backup singer Gwen Sebastian.

To close the show, Lambert and Sebastian were joined by opening act (and fellow Texas songstress) Sunny Sweeney for a Pistols Annies-meets-Dixie Chicks take on the Chicks’ “Cowboy, Take Me Away.” Lambert also covered a couple of Southern rock classics: Mountain’s “Mississippi Queen” and “Tush” by ZZ Top.

Lambert’s mention of her home state of Texas was reportedly greeted with both cheers and boos from the Oklahoma crowd, a situation that is likely to be repeated (for the exact opposite reason) at her next tour stop. On Thursday, March 12th, the Certified Platinum Tour hits Dallas, before heading to Iowa and Michigan.
