Kanye West, 47, and Ty Dolla $ign, 42, have shocked the music world with the unexpected release of their new album, Vultures 2. Dropping in the early hours of August 3, the album arrived with minimal prior notice, much to the delight and surprise of fans.
The rap duo initially debuted their joint project on February 10. The follow-up album, Vultures 2, was originally slated for a March release, but delays left fans in the dark about its actual launch date.
One of the standout tracks from the album, “5:30,” sees Kanye West taking aim at several fellow artists. According to reports from No Jumper on X and Instagram, West name-drops Drake, Lil Baby, and Future. The lyrics are blunt and direct, with lines like, “You a fake bch, You don’t really love Ye, go listen to Drake btch.” Another jab follows: “You don’t live in it and you don’t got what it take, bch, Go listen to Lil Baby, go listen to Future, bch.”
In the lead-up to the surprise release, Kanye West piqued fans’ curiosity by unveiling the song “Slide” on yeezy.com and live-streaming the project on YouTube. Ty Dolla $ign, born Tyrone William Griffin Jr., also teased the album on his Instagram Stories, writing “V2 loading” earlier in the day. Later, he revealed “V2 LIVE” with a link to the music via Yeezy.com.
The release of Vultures 2 comes just weeks after rumors surfaced about Kanye West’s potential retirement from professional music. Screenshots of alleged text messages between West and rapper Rich The Kid were shared on Instagram, suggesting that West, who legally changed his name to Ye in 2021, might be considering stepping away from the music industry. The text from West read: “I’m retiring from professional music. Not sure what else to do.”
Vultures 2 marks a significant moment for Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, blending their creative energies in a project that continues to push boundaries. Despite the controversy and rumors of retirement, Kanye West proves once again that he remains a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Fans eagerly await to see what the future holds for this dynamic duo.
