Just divorced from Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez is preparing to enter a new marriage in early 2025
The ‘Unstoppable’ actress “had a rough year but is doing well,” says a source
Jennifer Lopez is looking ahead to a clean slate.
A source tells PEOPLE that the star is “focused on her own life” after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck in August.
“She has had a rough year but is doing well. She’s ready for Christmas and to start the new year fresh,” adds the source.
Lopez, 55, who shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emma with ex-husband Marc Anthony, has been busy “house-hunting for her and the kids” lately as she “would like to find another home for them,” the source says.
While Affleck, 52, spent Thanksgiving with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their three kids (Violet, 19, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12), Lopez shared a glimpse of her own festive holiday on Instagram.
“I hope everybody had a beautiful and Happy Thanksgiving. I am so incredibly grateful for all of you,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself smiling with her turkey.
Lopez’s latest film Unstoppable, a true-story sports drama produced under Affleck’s company Artists Equity, is in select theaters now before it later streams on Prime Video Jan. 11.
The actress is receiving awards buzz for her supporting role as Judy Robles, mother of Anthony Robles (played by Jharrel Jerome), who defied expectations by becoming a wrestling champ after being born with one leg. On Dec. 5 she was honored with the Maverick Award at the 2024 IndieWire Awards for her performance.
Next year will also mark the release of her movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, which she has called the “most challenging and rewarding role I’ve ever had.” She’ll also be working on a rom-com titled Office Romance with Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein, plus she’s producing a series adaptation of Emily Henry’s hit novel Happy Place.
Earlier this year, Lopez made the decision to cancel her summer tour to spend time with family. She teased to Interview in October, though, that she’ll be “out there entertaining you and shaking my ass sooner than you know.”
“I can’t wait to get back out there. I have the most understanding and loving fans in the world. … I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself and really dig down deep into things that were happening in my life,” she said.

“And I’m glad I did, because it was a really difficult time for me,” continued Lopez. “Probably the hardest time of my life, but it was also the best time because I got to do that work on myself.”
Affleck, meanwhile, is also focusing on work amid the ongoing divorce negotiations. He’s currently filming a crime thriller called RIP with Matt Damon, and his action sequel The Accountant 2 is expected out next year. A source said last month, “He’s very happy with life. He enjoys working. … He seems to be in a good place.”
