On Saturday, Selena Gomez attended the 4th annual Academy Museum Gala wearing a navy suede Alaïa halter gown with an exposed leather bustier that created a dramatic neckline. The bodice and skirt hugged her figure before flaring out at her feet in a short train.

For accessories, the star wore sterling silver bracelets and earrings from Tiffany & Co. and had her hair slicked back away from her face. She wore a slightly smokey eye and a pale pink lip.

The Academy Museum Gala supports the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, raising money for the venue’s exhibits, education programs, and public programming. The star-studded event is also used to honor the makers of cinema, this year awarding Paul Mescal with the Vantage Award, Rita Moreno with the Icon Award, and Quentin Tarantino with the Luminary Award.

This past month, Gomez has been on a press tour for her new film Emilia Perez and working on her Rare Beauty brand as well as her Wondermind mental health platform. Gomez spoke during the company’s Mental Fitness Summit for World Mental Health Day on October 10, revealing some of her own difficult moments.

“I spent too much time in my bedroom that I actually don’t even sleep in my bedroom anymore,” she shared. “I associate it with such a really dark time.”

Gomez continued, “Being anxious is so debilitating sometimes. I didn’t want to leave my bed for years, and part of it was that I wasn’t doing the work. You have to believe in yourself and do the work that will truly enlighten you a little bit.”

She then said that keeping her circle small has been a huge help.

“I don’t have a lot of people in my life. I know who my inner circle is,” she explained. “I have to talk things out. And I have a therapist too, but it’s also nice to have people around you who will just listen. There’s a freedom in letting go of whatever it is that’s keeping you stuck.”
