Beyoncé is making good on all of those rumors.
The Grammy-winning singer is set to join Kamala Harris at a Friday rally in Houston, a source familiar with the planning confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The event, which has not yet been publicly announced, will also see Beyoncé joined by her mother, Tina Knowles, and country music’s Willie Nelson.
A Harris campaign spokesperson said they could not confirm. THR has reached out to a rep for Beyoncé.
The planned appearance ends months of speculation about if Beyoncé would publicly endorse the Democratic party’s presidential nominee, given the impact the 32-time Grammy-winning artist could have on voters.
At the onset of Harris’ campaign, Beyoncé had reportedly granted Vice President Harris approval to use the Lemonade song, “Freedom.” The song, which champions Black women’s empowerment, has since become an anthem for Harris’ 2024 campaign.
There was then so much hype around rumors of a Beyoncé appearance at the Democratic National Convention that even the four-day event’s staff thought the Cowboy Carter superstar was going to show up. (Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there, THR confirmed at the time.)
“We never put out anything about Beyoncé. We denied it every time the media asked us — even though, by the way, people on my staff didn’t believe me,” Ricky Kirshner told THR back in August. “I kept getting texts from news organizations saying, ‘When is Beyoncé coming out?’ But come on, we have the biggest star, the Democratic nominee for president. Why would we overshadow that?”
Throughout Harris’ campaign, the White House hopeful has selectively recruited star power to rally behind her. This year’s DNC featured a lineup of Hollywood emcees, including Tony Goldwyn, Mindy Kaling and Kerry Washington. The convention also featured performances by Pink, Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Patti LaBelle; a daytime panel moderated by Julia Louis-Dreyfus; and a surprise appearance by Oprah Winfrey, who urged people to register to vote; and more.
The other mega-star who seems to have equal power with her political endorsement is Taylor Swift, who publicly endorsed Harris right after the one and only presidential debate between Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote. “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
The Harris campaign has also been promoting a get-out-the-vote rally and concert with a “surprise musical guest” that is scheduled for the last week before Election Day. Additional details about the event are not yet available.
