Lindsay Lohan Proves That the Matrix Leather Trench Coat Trend Is Here to Stay

Who would have guessed that all along, Lindsay Lohan’s best aesthetic was going to be futuristic villain-core? The Mean Girls actor was photographed at the Balenciaga show during Paris fashion week on September 30 in a figure-hugging black dress and matching, floor-length leather trench coat, and has quite possibly never looked better.

The sleeveless maxidress was coated in closely stitched black sequins and hugged every inch of Lohan’s body, from the high neckline down to the narrow A-line skirt. She topped the gown with a dramatic leather trench straight out of The Matrix, which was embellished with voluminous shoulder pads.

To match the severity of the outfit, Lohan kept her styling equally sleek. She wore her ice-blonde hair in a slicked back high ponytail and went with relatively minimal makeup, combining a classic cat-eye with a nude lip. She mostly skipped the jewelry, adding only a tennis bracelet to one wrist.

But Lindsay Lohan isn’t the only celebrity doing their part to bring the long trench coat trend into the mainstream. Julia Fox, for instance, has been wearing dramatic, Neo-inspired leather coats for years, now, while Blake Lively has shown off a denim version while out in New York City. And Hailey Bieber, queen of oversized leather jackets, wore a leather trench coat over a sheer bodysuit back in June.
