ay-Z shocked Grammy viewers not once, but twice, during the ceremony where he was honored for his career.
The rapper faced the ire of music fans when he used his Grammy for the Dr Dre Global Impact Award as a cup to drink from.
Hov was seen pouring Armand de Brignac champagne, otherwise known as Ace of Spades champagne, into the unique black-colored Grammy trophy he had just received.

Jay’s unique celebration came after he put the Grammys on blast for never having awarded his wife, Beyoncé, Album of the Year despite being the most successful Grammy winner of all time.
Standing on stage with their 12-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, the rapper agreed that music was subjective but it did not make sense that Beyoncé had never won the top gong.
“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year,” Jay-Z said. “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”
Jay then added, as the audience gasped in shock: “Some of you are gonna go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category. When I get nervous, I tell the truth.’
Both artists have been nominated for 88 competitive Grammy Awards respectively in their careers with Beyoncé owning 33 and Jay having 24.
While Jay was celebrated for his speech, some people later criticized him for using the Grammy as a drinking vestibule.
“Classless !!! Total disrespect for the award !!!” complained one person on X, formerly Twitter.
And a third simply wrote: “ewww.”
But some defended Jay, including by pointing out he had previously celebrated in the same way.
“he’s done it before, just staying on brand,” wrote one person.
A second commented: “I love it! Black excellence!”
Elsewhere in his acceptance speech, Jay joked how Blue Ivy used to use her parents Grammys as sip cups, but now “she has her own Grammys.”
In 2021, Blue Ivy won her first Grammy alongside her mom for their video for “Brown Skin Girl,” a song from Beyoncé’s Black is King album.
He also spoke about how he had previously boycotted the Grammys when he felt they had not got it right but encouraged artists to keep trying to win.
“But outside of that, we got to keep showing up — and forget the greatness for a second, just in life,” the rapper explained.
“As my daughter sits and stares at me nervous as I am, you got to keep showing up. Just keep showing up to get the Grammys.
“You got to keep showing up until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve. Until they call you champion, until they call you a genius, until they call you the greatest of all time.”
