Diddy’s mother, Janice Small Combs, believes her son has been charged with a crime he has not yet been convicted of. She wants viewers to give the hip hop mogul a chance to defend himself in court.
According to Page Six , Janice Smalls Combs, rapper Diddy ‘s mother, spoke out to defend her son as the hip hop mogul prepares to stand trial for sex trafficking and extortion along with a series of other sexual assault allegations.
“It’s heartbreaking that my son has been judged like this. My son has been publicly lynched before he has even gone to court, which is indescribable. Like every other citizen, my son has the right to go to court to prove his innocence,” Janice Smalls told Page Six.
Diddy’s mother also mentioned the tape recording of Diddy beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie in 2016. She said that no one is perfect, Diddy made mistakes in the past “like everyone else”.
“My son may have been wrong and dishonest in denying that he hit his ex-girlfriend in the hotel room. But that doesn’t mean he was completely wrong. Sometimes the truth and the lie are so close together that it’s scary,” Ms. Smalls added.
At the same time, she said that Diddy’s straightforwardness in facing the lawsuit with his ex-girlfriend does not mean that her son is completely disgusting and is being linked to serious crimes before the court has an official verdict.
Diddy’s mother believes her son is being accused by society even though he has not been convicted.
“Many individuals are wrongly convicted and then exonerated not because they committed a crime but because they do not fit the image that society holds of a good person. History has shown us that individuals can be wrongly convicted because of their past actions or mistakes,” she said.
The hip-hop mogul’s mother also said the accusations against her son were “money grabbers” and not about justice. She said the girls kept coming forward because they saw the rapper settle his lawsuit with his ex-girlfriend quickly. She urged viewers to stop criticizing him and wait for Diddy’s day in court.
“I will never forget the whole world mocking and laughing at my son’s downfall. It was painful to see the world turn its back on my son so quickly because of a misunderstanding. They did not listen and wait for my son to have a chance to explain,” she said.
In addition to asking the audience to give the rapper a chance to defend himself, Janice also condemned the way many people described the hip hop mogul. “My son is not the monster they have painted him to be. He has every right to prove it. I just pray that he is alive to say it,” Janice pleaded after news broke that the rapper wanted to commit suicide in prison.
After Ms. Janice spoke up, the audience reacted strongly. “Diddy is a rich tycoon. She is right to worry about her income”, “The evidence is there, the police work based on evidence, don’t think that speaking up is leading public opinion”, “Every mother loves her child, but isn’t it a bit funny that the police prosecute based on evidence”… the audience commented on Page Six.
Diddy was arrested on September 16 in Manhattan, USA. The sex mogul was charged with multiple crimes, including conspiracy to commit extortion, sex trafficking by force, coercion, prostitution and drug use. After being detained, Diddy denied all charges.
