“When I saw your documentary on Apple [about] your illness struggles, I was thinking, ‘Do I share?’ You know, ‘Is this something I should do?’ Because it feels quite vulnerable,” Hart told Gomez, whose doc from 2022 shared her diagnosis of bipolar disorder and her life with lupus.

Gomez, 32, became visibly emotional and began to tear up as Hart revealed this information.

The singer’s “Emilia Pérez” co-star Zoe Saldaña and “Doctor Who” actor Ncuti Gatwa also appeared on the talk show and became emotional by Hart’s confession.

“I watched [Gomez’s] documentary, and I just thought, ‘Absolutely yes.’ And that’s what kept me writing,” she continued. ”So the fact I’m on this show with you … To witness somebody in the pain that I was in for different conditions. But we know what a chronic condition is like and it’s always rumbling there, and I know what it’s like in a very different way.”

The “Miranda” actress explained that although they did not have the same medical condition and she was not a pop star playing at arenas like Gomez, she did have a career that put her in high-profile appearances.

“I was backstage at the BBC, you know, trying to go on, not knowing whether to go on,” Hart said. “It’s amazing and I think she’s incredible.”

The comedian then teased: “Now back to me.”

Hart recently released her latest memoir, “I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You,” which is “packed with hard-won wisdoms and gentle truths,” per the book’s official synopsis.

“Basically, I have had an unexpectedly difficult decade — there have been surprising joys, but also deep revelations and challenging lows,” the description reads. “I shall be honest about those, because what I discovered in the difficult times were my, what I call, treasures.”
