Selena Gomez’s new boyfriend Benny Blanco was seemingly escorted off the red carpet at the Primetime Emmys earlier this week, with a body language expert now weighing in on the display

Selena Gomez and her new flame Benny Blanco sparked awkward vibes on the recent Emmys red carpet amid a slightly cringe display.

Believed to be feeling “awkward”, Selena watched as Blanco was guided away just as they went public with their relationship.

Record producer Benny Blanco, 35, joined starlet Selena Gomez, 31, at the grand Primetime Emmys this week, confirming rumors of their relationship which started brewing late in 2023.

A silent video shows Benny being led away from the glitzy event’s red carpet, leaving viewers curious about the couple’s dynamic. The now-deleted clip from E! News showed Benny standing next to Selena before she headed off for solo pictures, him staying put blowing kisses towards her retreating figure.

Body language expert Inbaal Honigman told The Mirror exclusively that Selena appeared to be in an”awkward” spot while Benny, on the other hand, seemed quite “confident”.

“Selena feels awkward about having her new man there, distracting her when she’s got a job to do,” Inbaal revealed to us after analysing the video of the awkward moment. She added that their body language, “just before he’s escorted off the red carpet, is exactly the opposite of one another’s”.

Inbaal told us: when Benny, the music producer, looked at his girlfriend, it seemed like he was “searching for eye contact” and “checking if she’s got any directions or instructions for him”. However, she observed, “she looks away, then glances towards his general direction, but she makes no eye contact at all”.

The glamorous actress didn’t make it easier, as “her turning her back pointedly, looking down at her purse and fiddling with it, her musical beau sends her public and obvious air kisses”, Inbaal described.

She continued her analysis saying: “Selena’s avoidance of Benny’s gaze shows that she’d rather he wasn’t trying to get her attention. She’s got places to go and people to take photos with, and he’s not part of this specific photo call. The way she fiddles with her purse, in a self-soothing gesture, suggests that she’s actually uncomfortable.”

And ending her evaluation, Inbaal stated: “Benny’s dauntless eye contact and kisses says that he’s confident and secure. As he walks away, his stride is long and his arms swing naturally by his side, his self-reliance isn’t compromised.” Then she finally said: “He doesn’t mind standing aside.”
